Essential Duties:

  • Read and understand drawings and operation sheets including knowledge of GD&T.

  • Perform first piece in process inspection using standard measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges and dial gauges.
  • Ensure all standard quality procedures are followed such as machine set-up, operation, inspection, documentation and material handling.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Prior EDM working experience is HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • 3-5+ years of CNC multi-axis turning or milling machining experience including set-up and troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrated skill working in a team environment.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
  • Experience in Aerospace or precision component manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing a plus.

Manufacturing Supervisor

1st Shift

The Manufacturing Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising a department of precision machinists.

Essential duties include:

  • Schedule departmental work and expedite top priority jobs.
  • Manage team direct labor utilization and production efficiencies in a 2 shift operation.
  • Improve new processes, routings, and re-work.
  • Track and document all scrap and re-work.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions for systemic safety, quality or production issues.
  • Inventory management, including ordering departmental tooling, supplies and getting equipment repaired.
  • Supervise departmental employees, including performance management, recruitment, employee counseling, schedule employees, mentor employees. Be an active participant in all management meetings, process improvements, safety, and company initiatives.
  • Manage Shop Preventative Maintenance Program and 5S Activities.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent knowledge to obtain expertise in departmental machinery.
  • 5-10 years of experience running CNC machine tools.
  • 3-5+ years of experience managing other personnel in a machining environment.
  • Aerospace industry experience required.
  • Experience working under AS 9100, ISO 9000, ISO 13485 or IATF 16949 Quality Management System is required.
  • Background in LEAN Manufacturing and Visual Factory preferred.
  • Background in Problem Solving preferred – 5 Why’s, 8 D, etc..
  • Team player with good business acumen a must.
  • Ability and Drive to move into a future Operations Manager position.

This is position responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Fits and assemblies parts into complete assembly.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Machinist 1- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Machinist 2- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
